Arvind Kejriwal to vacate Delhi chief minister’s residence in few weeks: AAP

Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal will vacate his official residence in a few weeks and will also give up all government facilities, party MP Sanjay Singh said on Wednesday.
Singh further added that after leaving his official residence, Kejriwal and his family will stay in Delhi and a search for suitable accommodation for them is underway.
“Arvind Kejriwal will vacate his bungalow in a few weeks. We are worried about his safety. The present house was important from a security perspective, but he decided to vacate it. He will live with the people of Delhi,” the AAP Rajya Sabha MP said.
“The people of Delhi are angry over Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation. They are questioning why there was a need for him to resign. The BJP has been trying to defame Arvind Kejriwal for the past two years by calling him corrupt and questioning his honesty. If he were a thick-skinned leader, then why would he have resigned from the chief minister’s office? In a case where getting bail is nearly impossible, the Supreme Court granted bail to Arvind Kejriwal,” Sanjay Singh added.
Kejriwal is under security cover provided by the Union Home Ministry, and he will have to get approval from central agencies before moving to a new home.
Kejriwal, a former Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, was granted bail by the top court earlier this month in a case linked with the alleged liquor policy scam.
On Tuesday, September 17, Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the Delhi Chief Minister’s post, a move which has been seen as a bold gambit by political experts to seize the initiative ahead of Assembly elections scheduled early next year.
